Why We Use The Legiolert Test
U.S. Water, LLC Lab trusts the Legiolert Test for Legionella testing thanks to its unrivaled reliability, speed, and convenience. To learn more about Legionella and what makes it so dangerous, click here. And read below for more details on the Legiolert Test and how it works.
It’s accurate
The Legiolert Test specifically detects Legionella pneumophila, which is the primary cause of Legionnaires’ disease. It is able to detect this bacterium with equal or greater accuracy than traditional spread plate culture methods.
It works quickly
This process allows for our lab to give you definite results in only 7 days without any additional steps required. This time period is much faster than traditional culture methods and allows you to respond quickly if need be.
It removes uncertainty
Thanks to its 99% reproducibility, you can feel confident in the results that you receive. No more re-testing before taking action!
Here’s how the test works
The Legiolert test is based on a bacterial enzyme detection technology that detects the presence of Legionella pneumophila through use of a substrate present in the Legiolert reagent. Legionella pneumophila cells reproduce and grow quickly using a supply of amino acids, vitamins, and other nutrients that are present in the Legiolert reagent. The added substrate in these actively growing strains of Legionella pneumophila produces a brown color – indicating a positive test.
